EAST AFRICAN SUBMARINE CABLE SYSTEM
EASSy is a 10,000km submarine cable system constructed along the east coast of Africa. It is owned and operated by a group of African Telecom Operators (92%) and International telecom operators (8%).The cable incorporates some of the latest developments in submarine fibre-optic technology, EASSy is the highest capacity system (3.84Tbps) on the eastern seaboard. EASSy provides connectivity throughout South and East Africa and also interconnect with multiple international submarine cable networks for diverse, seamless onward connectivity to Europe, USA, Middle East and Asia.
Onward connectivity is secured through interconnection agreements with major international submarine cable systems operators. This will ensure that our customers benefit from cost effective, reliable and seamless connectivity between cities throughout southern, central and eastern Africa and the world's key commercial/ financial centres and internet exchanges.
EASSy has diverse onward connectivity to Europe, Asia and North America via the EIG, Reliance-FLAG, IMeWe and WASC.
EASSy will interconnect with multiple international submarine cable networks at Mtunzini, Mombasa, Djibouti and Port Sudan via agreements with a variety of international cable operators. This will enable us to take advantage of a variety of international routing options, ensuring diverse, seamless onward connectivity to Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Asia.
This comprehensive mesh of onward connectivity will enable African and international telecommunications service providers to interconnect and to deliver ICT services that will spur development and growth across the region.
